The David
Eccles School of Business
The University of Utah's David Eccles School of Business has a strong
tradition of excellence. The School is named in honor of David Eccles,
one of Utah's most prominent and productive pioneer industrialists. A
$15 million endowment was given to the School in 1991 by Emma Eccles
Jones, David Eccles' youngest daughter. The legacy and entrepreneurial
spirit of David Eccles are embodied in the rich academic experience
found at the School.
Located at the foot of the majestic Wasatch Mountains, the David Eccles
School of Business sits near the center of the University of Utah
campus. Accredited by the American Assembly of Collegiate Schools of
Business (AACSB), the School offers students a personal educational
experience at a renowned research university, with programs at the
undergraduate, masters and PhD level. The Undergraduate Programs at the
David Eccles School of Business are consistently ranked among the top
business programs in the West and in the nation. Students are encouraged
to participate in one of the many experiential learning opportunities
available at the school. The experiential learning opportunities make an
education from the David Eccles School of Business unique. The School's
distinctive quality is its ability to offer an outstanding education at
a great value. With the addition of the new Entrepreneurial
Degree, students are able to compete in a complex and demanding business
environment.

faculty are committed to the students' educational experience. They
bring a caliber of teaching and research that challenges students to
reach higher levels of learning and discovery. The School's academic
departments are consistently cited for their academic achievement. For
example, the Department of Finance prides itself on achieving and
maintaining a world-class research faculty. Indeed, in the most recent
ranking of quality research output by departments for the last four
years, the finance department was ranked twentieth in the world. The
David Eccles School of Business takes pride in its state-of-the-art
classrooms, many of which are now wireless. The School is known for
their their highly visible service to the University of Utah and the
community.
Many business school alumni hold senior executive positions at leading
companies and organizations around the globe. Included on the list are
David L. Gorham, chief financial officer of the New York Times; J.
Willard Marriott, Jr., chief executive officer of Marriott
International; and Dr. Steven R. Covey, chairman and founder of Covey
Leadership Center.
