Study Nursing/Allied Health Programs
Alabama Southern
College
The fast growing healthcare industry is a very
healthy career choice
Health
care provides one of the fastest growing job markets in the country. Alabama
Southern's Nursing and Health Care students have the advantage of learning
in some of the best equipped labs in the state. In addition, clinical labs are
held at hospitals throughout Southwest Alabama and in Mobile, giving students
a well-balanced exposure to both rural and urban medicine.
Allied Health Linkages
Allied Health Linkages are two-year pre-professional degree programs that give
students a first-class foundation to allow them to successfully transfer to a
senior university in areas such as pharmacy, physical therapy, dentistry, medicine, osteopathy, chiropractics, optometry, and veterinary science.
Nursing Program RN
Alabama Southern offers an Associate Degree Nursing program (RN) on its
Monroeville campus. An Upward Mobility program also allows LPN's to advance
to Registered Nurse status. Clinical labs are held in all specialty areas maternity, pediatrics, psychiatric nursing, emergency and critical care giving students actual hands-on experience in a wide variety of settings.
Preceptorships in the last term may be done in the student's area of
interest and student needs.
Emergency Medical Services (EMT)
Alabama Southern offers both basic and intermediate EMT programs. The
College's outstanding EMT program is helping fill the shortage of emergency response workers throughout Southwest
Alabama. Paramedic training prepares students for much more than ambulance
work. Many EMT graduates have enhanced their careers with nursing degrees.
These dual degrees qualify them for work as emergency room nurses and flight
nurses on air ambulances. Nursing Assistant/Home Health Aide
Alabama Southern's Long Term Nursing Assistant/Home Health Aide program
prepares graduates for employment in nursing homes and home care. Graduates
are eligible to take national Nursing Assistant and Home Health Aide
certification examinations. The program can be completed in as few as two
quarters.
Practical Nursing Program LPN
Alabama Southern's LPN program trains graduates to work in hospitals, physicians' offices, nursing homes, mental health facilities, outpatient
clinics, and home health agencies. The program can be completed in as few as
four quarters. Need information about Alabama Southern's Nursing and
