The sports teams of UAB are known as the Blazers. The colors are gold, white, and green. The university has tennis, golf, baseball, basketball, football, track and field, and soccer teams. Some notable alumni of the university include Larry DeLucas, astronaut and research scientist; Clayton Colvin, artist; Deidre Downs, Miss America 2005; Derek Rios, Canadian Soccer Player; and Graeme McDowell, professional golfer.
