History

The revival of Pentecostal teaching and practice during the opening quarter of the twentieth century. From the beginning, emphasis has been placed upon a definite Christian experience of conversion, a personal life of holiness, endowment of power for service through the infilling of the Holy Spirit, and an intense spirit of Evangelism and missions. Apache University is a part of this tradition and is wholeheartedly committed to its implications and perpetuation. Apache University opened in June 1980. Theme: Christ is Lord

Jesus Christ, for the Christian, is the most important fact in history; not only the most important fact in world history, but the most important fact in the personal history of the individual. Christians seek to be Christ-like in obedience, purpose, motivation, word, and deed. They cannot serve their own self-interests, but rather seek to do the will of God as willing bondslaves. In order to keep this concept before the entire constituency of the Universities, the theme "Christ is Lord" is held as a common purpose and goal.

Basic Premises

The following assumptions are basic to the entire Universities program:
  1. The pursuit of truth, regardless of where it is found, is a basic commitment of the University. As a community of scholars and students, the University seeks to discover, apply and communicate that truth.
  2. The entire personality grows and develops through commitment to Christ and the search for truth.
  3. Biblical truth should be at the center and integrated into all the curricular, cocurricular, extracurricular, and living experiences of the student.
  4. Faith and reason are viewed as complementary, and both are necessary in the search for truth. Thus, there can be integration of biblical Christianity with humanities, arts, sciences, and specialized subjects.
  5. Quality in teaching, learning, and serving is fundamental to all aspects of the Universities. The entire Universities community has ownership in the processes of developing the academic, spiritual and social life of the Apache student.
