It was founded in 1899. The main campus lies just 26 miles northeast of Los Angeles in the San Gabriel Valley. APU offers more than 60 areas of undergraduate study, 26 master's degree programs and 7 doctorate degree programs. It is home to a total student population of more than 8, 100. Azusa Pacific University is made up of one college and six schools. APU student-athletes compete in the Golden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). APU won the Directors'Cup four consecutive times from 2005 to 2008. Some well-known APU graduates include NFL player Doug Barnett, poker star Jean-Robert Bellande, and Olympic runner Davidson Ezinwa.
