California State University, Fresno, popularly called Fresno State, was established in 1911 as a public community university. The main campus sits on 388 acres of land, with 34 additional structures on the 1, 022 acre University Farm. Fresno State offers over 25 nationally accredited departmental programs in 8 colleges:

Fresno State's varsity sports teams are known as the Bulldogs, and the university has separate volleyball, baseball, tennis, softball, golf and football teams. The Bulldogs have earned one NCAA national championship in baseball and one in softball.
