Study at Fresno Pacific University


Fresno Pacific University, popularly referred to as FPU, was established in 1944 as the Pacific Bible Institute. It became the Pacific College in 1964, the Fresno Pacific College in 1976, and was christened Fresno Pacific University in 1997. Founded by the Pacific District Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches, FPU sits on a 40-acre campus in Fresno, California. Apart from the main campus, classes are also offered in the Bakersfield Center, the North Fresno Center, and the Visalia Center. Fresno Pacific University offers a large number of undergraduate and graduate degree programs, as well as online degrees and courses. Specific courses on the English language and professional development are also available. FPU has under it the following academic divisions:
  • The School of Business
  • The School of Education
  • The School of Humanities, Religion and Social Sciences
  • The School of Natural Sciences
Students of Fresno Pacific University participate in sports including swimming, tennis, basketball, baseball, volleyball, cross country, soccer, track and field, and water polo. The teams are nicknamed the Sunbirds, and they are members of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.
