LA College International was established in 1981 to train men and women in the Los Angeles area in data processing. In the quarter century since its beginning, the school has gained accreditation, changed its name from ICT College after being purchased by American Way Education in 2006, and has expanded its scope by adding new career programs. Although the college name has changed, it still offers computer science programs, as its predecessor did. However, the school has added career programs in other areas such as health care, graphic design, and business management. Applicants pursuing an associate's or bachelor's degree need to submit evidence of a diploma from high school or an acceptable score on the GED or California High School Proficiency Examination (CHSPE).
