Los Angeles Pierce College, also known as Pierce College, is a two-year community college. It was originally established as the Clarence W. Pierce School of Agriculture. Nine years later, its name was changed to Los Angeles Pierce College, retaining the name of its founder, Dr. Pierce. It enrolls more than 20, 000 students annually. LAPC offers courses on more than 100 subjects in over 90 academic disciplines. It also has transfer alliances with most of the universities in the state. The college boasts enviable transfer rates to UC and CSU. The sports teams of LAPC are nicknamed Brahmas. The college currently fields over 10 athletic teams, which compete in the Western State Conference.
