Occidental College, established in 1887, is a private, co-educational, liberal arts college located in Los Angeles, California, United States. It is also referred to as Oxy by students and alumni. Occidental is the oldest liberal arts colleges on the West Coast. The college offers a wide variety of degrees and programs in diverse Course Topics. U. S. News and World Report (2009) ranked Occidental as 37th among the ‘American liberal arts colleges'.

Occidental is a member of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) and NCAA Division III. It sponsors more than 15 varsity sports teams. The teams are nicknamed as the Tigers. Some of the notable alumni include Ben Affleck, actor; Kathy Augustine, U. S. politician from Nevada; and W. Don Cornwell, CEO of Granite Broadcasting.
