Study at University of The Pacific


University of the Pacific, also referred to as UOP or Pacific, is a private university in Stockton, California, United States. It was founded on July 10, 1851, with the name California Wesleyan College. In 1911, the name was changed to College of the Pacific (COP). In 1925, the campus, which was earlier located in the Bay Area, was relocated to Central Valley city of Stockton. In 1961, the college was finally renamed to University of the Pacific. Pacific is the oldest chartered university in California. Its campus spreads across more than 170 acres of urban land. The University grants admission to more than 3, 000 students every year. The University's sports teams are called the Tigers. The official mascot is the Power Cat. Students participate in baseball, basketball, cross country, field hockey, golf, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, volleyball, and water polo.
