Study at Sacred Heart University


Sacred Heart University is a private, co-educational, Catholic university located in suburban Fairfield, Connecticut. It was founded in 1963 by the Rev. Walter W. Curtis, the Bishop of the Diocese of Bridgeport. The university's campus stretches over more than 60 acres of suburban land. The schools and colleges under SHU include the following:

The university's sports teams are known as the Pioneers. The official mascot of SHU's sports teams is Big Red the Pioneer. Men's teams at SHU participate in baseball, basketball, cross country, fencing, football, golf, ice hockey, lacrosse, soccer, tennis, track and field, volleyball and wrestling. Women take part in basketball, bowling, cross country, equestrian, fencing, field hockey, golf, ice hockey, lacrosse, rowing, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, track and field and volleyball. The University also has a cheerleader squad.
