| Study at Coastal Georgia Community College Georgia
The college's curriculum has grown along with its student population, which now exceeds 3,000. CGCC continues to work closely with area businesses and industries to provide the specialized programs and workforce training needed. Coastal Georgia Community College is vital to the educational, cultural, and economic development of the coastal Georgia region. A recent study by the University of Georgia's Selig Center for Economic Growth stated that the economic impact of the college on the community is approximately $54.4 million annually. As a unit of the University System of Georgia and a two-year institution, Coastal Georgia Community College's mission is to provide:
Coastal Georgia Community College offers a wide variety of educational opportunities including ten career associate degree programs, 39 associate degree programs for transfer, and 50 career and technical programs. Seven bachelor, seven master, and two education specialist degrees are available through the Brunswick Center consortium with Armstrong Atlantic State University and Georgia Southern University. This unique partnership allows students to complete these degrees without travel to distant campuses. Bachelor degree programs available include criminal justice, history, early childhood education, middle school education, nursing, general studies, and business administration. Master degree programs available include nursing, early childhood education, middle school education, special education, business administration, nursing, and education. Also available through the Brunswick Center are education specialist degrees to include counselor education and educational leadership. The consortium is administered by CGCC and is supported with staff, classrooms, offices, and library resources at both college locations. The Department of Continuing Education and Community Services offers courses in personal and professional development throughout the year. A wide range of classes is available for all ages, children to seniors. Customized training is available for businesses. Coastal Georgia Community College (formerly Brunswick College) has supplied Glynn County and the surrounding areas with qualified graduates for over four decades. The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia founded the college in 1961 when the citizens of Brunswick and Glynn County approved a $1 million bond issue for the construction of buildings and purchase of land. Construction of the physical plant was completed in 1964. In 1987 the delivery of postsecondary adult education was passed to a new Georgia government agency, the Department of Technical and Adult Education, which was created by the Georgia General Assembly. The college's postsecondary technical and adult education programs were provided under the auspices of this new state government agency. Coastal Georgia Community College is one of only four institutions in Georgia to offer both academic transfer programs as a member of the University System of Georgia and technical/career programs in collaboration with the Department of Technical and Adult Education. The Board of Regents authorized the Camden Center in Kingsland to serve the needs of Camden County residents and CGCC has been offering classes there since 1993. The Board of Regents adopted the name of Coastal Georgia Community College for Brunswick College in July 1996, upon the recommendations of consultants who reviewed its institutional mission and because of Brunswick College's clear geographic service region and commitment to a comprehensive mission of transfer programs, technical programs, lifelong learning, and community service. In 2001, adult literacy programs for Glynn, McIntosh, and Camden counties were assigned to Coastal Georgia Community College by the Department of Technical and Adult Education.
