Georgia Institute of Technology, state-assisted institution of higher learning in Atlanta, Georgia. Founded in 1885 and commonly known as Georgia Tech, the institute comprises five colleges: Architecture, Computing, Engineering, Sciences, and the Ivan Allen College of Management, Policy, and International Affairs. Georgia Tech offers curricula leading to degrees in 32 undergraduate programs, 34 master's programs, and 24 doctoral programs, as well as preparatory programs for law, medical, and veterinary schools.
