Profile of Dominican University Dominican University was founded in 1901 as St. Clara College in Sinsinawa, WI. One of the first women's universities in the U. S. to provide a complete curriculum including studies in math and science, the institute was renamed Rosary College in 1922, the same year it was relocated to its current home in River Forest, IL (just outside Chicago). Rosary College became coeducational in 1970, and its name was once again changed, in 1977, to Dominican University. In addition to its numerous on-campus degree programs, Dominican today offers an array of Master of Arts in Education degrees which can be earned completely online. The online degree programs follow the same curriculum, employ the same nationally recognized faculty, use the same textbooks, and culminate in the same degrees awarded to on-campus students.
