Midwestern University, or MWU, was originally established as the American College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in 1900. It was named the Midwestern University in 1993. This private graduate school of medicine has two campuses in Downers Grove, Illinois, and Glendale, Arizona. The 105-acre Downers Grove campus is known as the Midwestern University Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine.

The Midwestern University Downers Grove campus offers a variety of degrees in the fields of osteopathic medicine, pharmacology, physician assistant studies, physical and occupational therapy, biomedical sciences, clinical psychology, and health sciences. MWU offers the following academic divisions:
