The following year the name was changed to Rose Polytechnic Institute and this new school started offering classes from 1883. In 1971, it was renamed the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and it became coeducational in 1991. Currently, RHIT is situated on a 295-acre campus in Terre Haute, Indiana.
Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs in the fields of applied biology and biomedical engineering, chemical, mechanical and civil engineering, computer science and software engineering, electrical and computer engineering, mathematics, physics and optical engineering, engineering management, environmental engineering, and humanities and social sciences.
The athletics department of RHIT sponsors men's and women's teams in baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, soccer, rifle, softball, swimming, tennis, track, volleyball, and wrestling.
