Study at Emerson College


Emerson College was founded in 1880 as the Boston Conservatory of Elocution, Oratory, and Dramatic Art. Founded by Charles Wesley Emerson, it was renamed to Monroe Conservatory of Oratory in 1881 and to Emerson College of Oratory in 1890. The college adopted its current name in 1939. The college campus is located in Boston, Massachusetts.

Emerson College competes in the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III, and in the Eastern College Athletic Conference. The college is also a Charter member of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Their sports teams are known as the Lions and participates in a wide variety of sports including lacrosse, cross country running, softball, tennis, volleyball, baseball, soccer, basketball, and golf.

Some of the notable alumni of Emerson College are Katherine Gudger Langley, the first woman elected to United States House of Representatives from Kentucky; Richard Arlook, the president of The Arlook Group; and Steve Berthiaume, the former sportscaster for SportsNet New York and an anchor on ESPN.
