Transylvania University is located in downtown Lexington, Kentucky, United States. It is a privately supported, liberal arts institution. Transylvania University is commonly referred to as Transy. The University was established in 1780 and was the sixteenth college to be established in the United States. Transy is spread over a 48-acre campus. Students are offered courses of study in diverse subjects through the following academic divisions of the college:

Transylvania University is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association, and the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference. The athletic teams of the university are nicknamed as the Pioneers. The Pioneers participate in varsity sports including baseball, basketball, cross country, swimming, soccer, golf, volleyball, and tennis.
