University of Louisville, also referred to as "U of l', is a public university located in Louisville, Kentucky. Established in 1798, the school currently offers admission to over 15, 000 students. The school offers various majors in the fields of humanities, computer science and engineering, foreign literature, health and human performance, liberal arts, and music. The institution developed the world's first vaccine against cervical cancer in 2006.

University of Louisville's sports teams are nicknamed the Cardinals or the Cards. The official mascot of the teams is the Cardinal bird.
