Study at Bates College


Bates College was founded by abolitionists in 1855. This independent, non-profit college sits on a 109-acre campus in Lewiston, Maine. Over 1, 500 undergraduate students enroll in Bates College every year. In the last 20 years, the institute has consistently been ranked among the top 25 liberal arts colleges in the country by the U. S. News and World Report.

Bates College offers a number of Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees. Students can earn majors and minors in the fields of anthropology, art, education, English, politics, sociology, science, music and literature.

Bates College sponsors athletics teams in baseball, basketball, cross country, field hockey, football, golf, lacrosse, skiing, rowing, soccer, squash, swimming and diving, tennis, track and field and volleyball. Nicknamed the Bobcats, the teams compete in the NCAA Division III in the New England Small College Athletic Conference.
