Founded in 1878, the University
of Southern Maine, commonly called USM, is a multi-campus public university. It is part
of the University of Maine System. The three primary campuses of the university are located in Portland, Gorham, and Lewiston. According to the Princeton Review's 2006 listings, USM is among the “best Northeastern colleges”. The university
