Study at Kalamazoo College


Kalamazoo College, also known as the K College or simply K, was established in 1833. The college was founded as the Michigan and Huron Institute by some Baptist ministers. The institute received its charter in 1833. The name was changed to Kalamazoo Literary Institute in 1837. The Kalamazoo Branch of University of Michigan was opened in 1838. These merged in 1840 and operated as the University of Michigan's Kalamazoo Branch. It later became the Kalamazoo College. The college offers a number of programs in the fields of fine arts, natural science, mathematics, religion, social science, literature, and history, among others.

The sports teams of Kalamazoo College are known as the Hornets. They participate in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association and NCAA's Division III. The teams compete in football, cross country, volleyball, swimming, diving, baseball, basketball, golf, and soccer.
