Medaille College is located in Buffalo, New York, United States. It was established by the Sisters of Saint Joseph for the purpose of training teachers. The college was named in honor of Father Jean Pierre Medaille, founder of the Sisters of St. Joseph. Chartered in 1937, the college was formerly known as Mount St. Joseph Teachers College. It received its present name in 1968. Medaille College s athletic teams are nicknamed the Mavericks. Students are involved in a variety of sports including cross country, soccer, golf, bowling, volleyball, basketball, lacrosse, and softball. Students also publish a newspaper called the "Perspective. "
