Study at SUNY Maritime College

The State University of New York Maritime College, or SUNY Maritime College, traces its roots to the New York Nautical School that was established in 1874. It became the New York State Merchant Marine Academy, and in 1948, was incorporated into the SUNY system. The SUNY Maritime College is situated in the Bronx, New York City.

SUNY Maritime College offers a large number of associate’s degrees in applied science, bachelor’s degrees in science and engineering, and master’s degrees in science. Special programs in naval architecture are also available.

The sports teams of SUNY Maritime College are known as the Privateers. They participate in football, basketball, baseball, swimming, softball, lacrosse, soccer, cross country, rugby, rifle and pistol, and volleyball. The Privateers compete in the NCAA Divisions I, II and III.
