North Carolina State University at Raleigh is commonly called NC State or NCSU. It was founded on March 7, 1887 as a land-grant college. North Carolina State University consists of more than 30, 000 students and is one of the largest universities in North Carolina. More than thirty percent of students reside on campus. The athletics teams of North Carolina State University at Raleigh are known as the Wolfpack. They participate in more than 20 intercollegiate varsity sports at the NCAA Division 1 level.
