Winston Salem State UniversityWinston-Salem State University is a four-year, public, co-educational research university located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. It was established by Dr. Simon Green Atkins in 1892. WSSU's campus stretches over more than 110 acres of urban land. The university enrolls more than 5, 000 students annually. The schools and colleges under WSSU are:

  • School of Health Sciences

WSSU's sports teams are known as the Rams. WSSU sponsors men's teams in basketball, cross country, football, track and field, golf and tennis. Its women take part in basketball, bowling, cross country, track and field, softball, tennis and volleyball. The University also has a cheerleading squad.
