Founded in 1839, Bloomsburg University, BU, is a four-year, public university situated in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania. It is one of the 14 members of Pennsylvania's State System of Higher Education. BU has more than 50 buildings situated on 280 acres. The buildings are divided into two sections - lower campus and upper campus, which are connected by a shuttle bus that runs throughout the day.

BU offers more than 50 areas of undergraduate study, more than 15 graduate programs and many doctorate degree programs. The institute is academically noted for its education programs such as Elementary and Secondary Education and Audiology and Speech Pathology.

The University has its own newspaper, BU Voice, as well as a college radio station, WBUQ (91. 1 FM). BU's sports teams are known as the Huskies.
