Study at Rhode Island College


Rhode Island College, or RIC, is a coeducational, state-supported college, located in Providence, Rhode Island. It was founded in 1854. RIC is the oldest of the three public institutions of higher education that operate under the sponsorship of the Board of Governors for Higher Education. The main campus of the college covers 180 acres.

RIC offers more than 90 undergraduate and over 30 graduate programs, through the following academic divisions:

  • The Faculty of Arts and Sciences
  • The Feinstein School of Education and Human Development
  • The Feinstein School of Education and Human Development
  • The School of Management
  • The School of Nursing
  • The School of Social Work
RIC has more than 15 varsity sports team which are nicknamed the Anchormen. Some of the notable alumni of the college are James Langevin, 2nd District Congressman from Rhode Island; Ron McLarty, a popular television actor and novelist, and Viola Davis, an African American actress.
