The University of Rhode Island, also known as URI, is the principal public research university located in the State of Rhode Island. It was founded in 1892. The main campus is situated in Kingston, Rhode Island. In 2008, U. S. News and World Report ranked URI in its list of best colleges and gave it a selective rating.
