Our Mission:
Educate diverse
children for access to the full array of life choices, including college
and careers. To achieve this mission, the school will:
-
Recognize
each child’s unique abilities and talents and use these assets
as the foundation for academic development and individual growth
-
Employ a
well-structured, rigorous Kindergarten through 8th grade core
curriculum and create a comprehensive program based on
established best practice in learning and teaching in order to
develop and nurture within each child:
-
The
competence and passion for lifelong learning
-
Increased
levels of academic performance and personal achievement
relevant to the new millennium
-
A
balanced cultural perspective consistent with our diverse
community
-
A
sense of self value
The
Preparatory School prepares students for leadership (i.e., the
ability to think, adapt, evaluate and recognize and nurture
potential in self and others) in the 21st century and beyond. As a
school that takes individual differences seriously and crafts
practices that serve different children equally well, students at
the Preparatory School will:
- Master the
body of knowledge, skills, attitudes, and habits of mind that
are critical to success in this country, in the 21st century and
beyond
- Know the
culture and are able to adapt to a variety of circumstances and
conditions over the course of their lives
- Recognize
a broad bandwidth of diversity
- Attain an
equal footing to participate fully in American society
- Develop a
repertoire of intellectual resources, tools, and capacities for
the betterment of future generations in Racine.
- Every
member of the school community holds some responsibility for
the welfare of every other person and for the welfare of the
school as a whole. The defining, underlying culture is one
of learning, and everyone learns, continues to learn, and
supports the learning of others
