Study at The University of Tennessee


The University of Tennessee, or UT, is the flagship institution of the statewide land-grant University of Tennessee public university system in the state of Tennessee. The system is headquartered in Knoxville and has campuses in Memphis, Martin, Tullahoma, and Chattanooga. It was established in 1794. The campus is spread across an area of 550 acres. UT is ranked among the top 40 public universities in America.

The current mascot of UT is Smokey IX and their men and women's sports teams are nicknamed Volunteers and Lady Volunteers. Tennessee competes in the Southeastern Conference's Eastern Division along with Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, South Carolina, and Vanderbilt and has longstanding football rivalries with all of them.
