Study at Southwestern Assemblies of God University


The Southwestern Assemblies of God University, commonly referred to as SAGU, owes its existence to three separate schools - the Southwestern Bible School, the Shield of Faith Bible School, and the Southern Bible College. The Southern Bible College and the Shield of Faith Bible School merged in 1940 to form the South Central Bible Institute. This again merged with the Southwestern Bible School to create the Southwestern Bible Institute in 1941. In the late 1940s, the institute came to be known as the Southwestern Assemblies of God College. It was christened the Southwestern Assemblies of God University in 1994. The university is currently located in Waxahachie, Texas. The Southwestern Assemblies of God University provides both full-time courses as well as distance learning programs for the students. SAGU offers study through the following academic divisions:
  • College of Arts &Profession
  • College of Bible of Church Ministries
  • Harrison School of Graduate Studies
The Southwestern Assemblies of God University's sports teams are members of the National Christian College Athletic Association, the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, and the Red River Athletic Association. Nicknamed the Lions, the teams participate in basketball, baseball, soccer, football, and volleyball.
