Texas Southern University, or TSU, is located in Houston, United States. It was originally founded as the Texas State University for Negroes, on March 3, 1947 by the Texas Legislature. Before becoming a state university, Texas Southern University was owned by the Houston Independent School District (HISD) and had been known as the Houston College for Negroes.
