Marshall University is a coeducational public research university, located in Huntington. It was founded in 1837 as a private subscription school. The main campus is situated on 60 acres. The college offers a variety of degrees and programs through eight colleges and schools which are:

Marshall University's sports teams are nicknamed the Thundering Herd. They participate in NCAA Division I (I-A for football) as a member of Conference USA.
