Study at Shepherd University


Shepherd University, founded on September, 1871, is a public, co-ed university, located on the banks of the Potomac River, in Shepherdstown. It was formed as Shepherd College but after several name and status changes, it was given its present name in 2004. The main campus is spread across an area of more than 320 acres and the University currently records an Enrolment of more than 4, 200 students annually. It offers baccalaureate's degrees in diverse Course Topics ranging from liberal arts, and business administration, to education, and other career-oriented fields. The university is comprised of the following schools:

  • School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics
Shepherd University possesses an active athletics department and their sports teams compete in 11 NCAA Division II. The students participate in several sports such as men's basketball, women's basketball, baseball, football, softball, women's volleyball, men's soccer, men's tennis, women's soccer, women's tennis, and golf. Their sports teams are known as the Rams.
